Follow-up on workshop “The energy transition and the ‘not in my backyard’ phenomenon”
Cipra Austria and the Alpine Climate Board organised a workshop on “The energy transition and the ‘not in my backyard’ phenomenon”, which took place on 4 April 2024 in Salzburg (AT).
We wanted to exchange opinions and ideas on solutions working towards climate-neutral and climate-resilient Alps in 2050 and discussed four main questions, focussing on the fourth one:
- What is the vision of climate-neutral Alps, focusing on the wind energy system?
- How can the “not in my backyard” (NIMBY) phenomenon be overcome in the energy transition?
- What common interests do the stakeholders have?
- How can diverging interests be brought together?
We hereby share a follow-up with you:
- The keynote presentation by Sigrid Stagl on “Public acceptance of climate policies”
- The presentation that guided us through the day (programme, info on compromises in conflicting situation, panellists)
- The flipcharts with the needs and interests, our ideas for solutions and your evaluation
- A short summary of the three ideas that were highest rated and some key messages that should be kept in mind
The NIMBY topic is an element of the current mandate of the ACB. We are planning follow-up activities and will keep you posted!
