The Alpine Climate Board (ACB) met on 16/17 May 2023 for the 17th meeting in Vienna.

Nature based solutions (Nbs), Energy and lifestyles – these are the cross-sectoral topics for the ACB in this current mandate.

The members of the Alpine Climate Board discussed in Vienna NbS and potential activities for this cross-sectoral topic. The small workshop, led by Ann-Kristin Winkler from WWF and Wolfgang Lexer from UBA (Austrian Environment Agency), was inspiring. The participants brought up many ideas on how to connect topics of implementation pathways from different sectors, defining common threads and creating fields for cross-sectoral activity.

One example: the need for an exchange with global partners on water conflicts has been defined as a common thread. The participants proposed to establish a transborder dialogue on water management in the Alpine regions (together with EUSALP, AC) as a concrete activity.

In the next step, we share a table of potential activities and look for coordinators and supporters of those activities. We will share the results and potential activities here and in the respective community groups. Watch out for more information!
